Prime suspect records statement in anchorperson murder case
The prime suspect in the murder case of anchorperson Mureed Abbas has recorded his statement before a sessions court.
The hearing was held at the Judicial Complex inside Central Jail Karachi, where accused Atif Zaman recorded his statement under Section 342 of the Criminal Procedure Code. He denied all allegations of killing Murad Abbas and Khizar Hayat.
The court adjourned the proceedings and sought final arguments from counsel for both sides on May 14. Witnesses, the investigating officer and others have already recorded their statements in the case.
According to the prosecution, forensic reports of the weapon used in the double murder and CCTV footage of the incident have already been submitted in the court.
The prosecution further stated that Atif Zaman, along with his brother Adil Zaman, allegedly called Mureed Abbas and Khizar Hayat to an office, where they were killed. Co-accused Adil Zaman absconded after his bail was rejected by the Supreme Court and has been declared a proclaimed offender.
