Ashrafi lauds army's role

LAHORE:

Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi on Sunday praised the military's role in a decisive national success, saying the country must not forget the gains achieved in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.

Speaking at a seminar, Ashrafi slammed the PTI, quipping that "if PTI comes to power riding on the shoulders of the army, it is acceptable to them".

He said the success achieved by Pakistan in the operation could never be forgotten, adding that Pakistani "shaheens" had written a chapter in history that would be remembered "until the Day of Judgment".

He said hostile forces had attempted to fuel terrorism and sectarianism but failed.
