Gujranwala Mass Transit plan approved
.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the design of the Gujranwala Mass Transit System.
Chairing a meeting, she ordered that every area of Gujranwala be connected to the metro train through feeder buses.
To ease traffic flow, it has been decided to construct two tunnel sections in the project, while in-principle approval has been granted for 17 to 19 kilometres of the transit line to run underground.
It was decided that solar systems will be installed at every station and depot.
The mass transit system will have the capacity to facilitate travel for 2.6 million passengers in Gujranwala.
Spanning 31.5 kilometres from Gakhar to Aimanabad, the project has been assigned a completion timeline of a year.
A total of 24 stations will be constructed, including two underground stations. Depots will be established at Gharjakh, Chand Da Qila and Gondlanwala.
