RAWALPINDI:

A local court has issued a notice to the SHO of RA Bazaar Police Station for failing to implement a court order banning the use of megaphones from 7am to midnight in residential areas for begging, soliciting donations, and selling goods.

The SHO has been summoned on May 6 in a contempt of court petition and asked to explain the lack of enforcement.

The court questioned why action is not being taken against vendors using loudspeakers and megaphones to sell vegetables, fruits, scrap items and other goods throughout the day. While hawkers are allowed to sell goods using their natural voice, they are prohibited from using loudspeakers early in the morning and late at night. The court observed that such noise disrupts students' studies, affects patients and children, and even impacts online learning.
