The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has uncovered a major electricity meter scandal in Haripur as part of its ongoing crackdown on institutional corruption.
In a significant operation, the FIA Abbottabad Zone conducted a raid in Naseem Town, Haripur, recovering dozens of government-issued electricity meters.
According to sources, the raid was carried out on the basis of confidential intelligence at the residence of a former PESCO employee, identified as Fareed.
During the operation, dozens of illegal official electricity meters belonging to PESCO and HESCO were taken into custody. These meters were allegedly stolen and being sold to private individuals.
Sources further revealed that the prime suspect, Fareed, has been taken into custody, while the FIA has expanded the scope of its investigation amid suspicions of the involvement of additional employees.
The operation was conducted under the strict directives of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
