Haripur faces severe water crisis

.

HARIPUR:

A severe water crisis has gripped Haripur after electricity to 18 municipal tube wells was disconnected over non-payment of dues, leaving large parts of the city without water supply for the past three days.

According to sources, the power utility took decisive action by disconnecting connections to tube wells in several localities, including Awan Colony, Mohalla Ramzani, Gujarmora, Babu Mohalla and other areas.

As a result, water supply has remained suspended, creating an acute shortage across the city, with residents struggling for every drop.

Affected residents expressed strong resentment, stating that despite regularly paying their water bills, it remains unclear why these funds have not been utilised by the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) to settle electricity dues. They described the situation as a glaring question mark over administrative accountability.
