ISLAMABAD:

The Directorate of Passports and Immigration has completed a comprehensive review of passport application processing, from submission to issuance, in consultation with IT experts, as part of efforts to modernise the system in line with contemporary requirements.

The review work was finalised ahead of an announcement to upgrade the passport and immigration processing framework, focusing on efficiency, transparency and faster public service delivery.

The decision was taken during an important meeting chaired by Director General Immigration and Passports MuhammadAli Randhawa, where key reforms aimed at digital transformation were approved.

It was agreed in the meeting that digital complaint centres will be established to ensure swift resolution of public grievances, alongside broader efforts to digitise the immigration and passport system.

Under the planned reforms, a new app will be introduced to allow citizens to submit complaints and queries online, enabling faster response times and reducing reliance on manual processes. The initiative is aimed at improving accessibility and convenience for applicants through technology-driven solutions.

Speaking on the occasion, the DG Passport said the department is committed to providing better facilities to the public through modern technology, adding that work is under way to accelerate plans for 24-hour active digital services.
