The moment took place during the group’s final Japan performance on their THIS IS FOR world tour on April 28, where they performed in front of a large crowd.
The emotional scene prompted concern among fans on social media, with some questioning whether the group might be nearing disbandment. Other fans expressed support, sharing messages of encouragement as the video circulated globally.
In response, Jihyo communicated directly with fans via the Bubble platform to clarify the situation and ease concerns.
“I ended up crying too much LOL. I came here because you all might be worried. I had a lot of thoughts running through my head. I thought about how hard it was, but ultimately, I am performing in front of so many people, and that comforted me,” she said.

Reflecting on the scale of the performance, she added, “When would I ever see 80,000 people again!”
Jihyo also engaged playfully with fans following the incident. “I didn’t want to cry because of that^^,” she said in response to a comment, later adding, “Thank you~ I’m off to the company dinner now!”
Additional footage from the concert shows members including Chaeyoung joining Jeongyeon in comforting Jihyo on stage, highlighting the group’s close dynamic during the moment.
Fans later noted that TWICE had recently achieved a milestone by selling out multiple shows at Japan’s National Stadium, suggesting that the emotional reaction may have been linked to the significance of the event rather than any underlying issues within the group.
Jihyo’s clarification has since reassured fans, with many interpreting the moment as a reflection of the emotional intensity of performing at a major live event.
