RAWALPINDI:

Concern is growing among parents and residents in Rawalpindi over the increasing use of drugs among underage children, with calls for immediate and effective measures to address the issue.

According to details, the use of harmful substances, including cigarettes, e-cigarettes (vapes) and other illegal narcotic substance is reportedly increasing among minors in the city, raising alarm among families.

They said early exposure to drugs negatively impacts children's health, education and character, stressing the need for effective monitoring systems within educational institutions.

They pointed out that some students secretly bring vapes and other substances into schools, influencing their peers and worsening the situation.

They called the authorities for banning underage sale of such materials and products.

"No shopkeepers pay attention while selling nicotine coated substances to their underage customers, instead they promote it further to enhance their sales", said a resident of Tench Bhatta highlighting the easy access to nicotine in markets
