Energy Crisis : Shaikh seeks ADB funding for Bhasha dam

Kuroda assured ADB’s support for Pakistan’s economic development and various projects.

WASHINGTON: Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh met Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Haruhiko Kuroda and discussed possible financing of projects, including Diamer Bhasha Dam. Shaikh and Kuroda discussed various aspects of cooperation, including the ongoing and new projects in the country and the region, being funded by ADB. Kuroda assured ADB’s support for Pakistan’s economic development and various projects.  The two officials also discussed possible financing for the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project and Diamer Bhasha Dam that Pakistan plans to build in the north of the country.
