'Verity' trailer reveals Anne Hathaway haunting Dakota Johnson in Colleen Hoover adaptation

Amazon MGM Studios' newly released trailer for Verity shows Anne Hathaway in a disturbing role opposite Dakota Johnson, offering a first look at the psychological thriller adapted from Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel.

The film follows Lowen Ashleigh, played by Johnson, a struggling writer hired to complete a book series by injured author Verity Crawford.

As Lowen works inside the Crawford home, she uncovers unsettling material that raises questions about Verity’s past and mental state. The trailer opens with a tense sequence inside the house at night before shifting into surreal and increasingly disturbing imagery.

One sequence depicts Lowen approaching Jeremy Crawford, played by Josh Hartnett, before a sudden transformation reveals Verity, who violently attacks her.

The scene underscores the film’s psychological tone, marking a clear departure from Hoover’s previous adaptations, including It Ends With Us, Regretting You, and Reminders of Him, which focused more heavily on romance.
