Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, a new spinoff from The Big Bang Theory, is scheduled to premiere in July on HBO Max, with new details confirmed during a panel at CCXP Mexico City.

The series centres on Stuart Bloom, played by Kevin Sussman, as he attempts to restore reality after accidentally triggering a multiverse crisis.

According to the announcement, the character breaks a device created by Sheldon and Leonard, leading to events described as a multiverse Armageddon.

Stuart is joined by Denise, played by Lauren Lapkus, as well as Bert, portrayed by Brian Posehn, and Barry Kripke, played by John Ross Bowie.

The storyline follows their efforts to address the consequences of the disruption while encountering alternate-universe versions of familiar characters from the original series. As indicated by the show’s title, the situation does not unfold as planned.

It was also confirmed that composer Danny Elfman will create the original theme music for the series. Elfman is recognised for his work across film and television, including long-standing collaborations and multiple award nominations.

The production team includes Chuck Lorre, Zak Penn and Bill Prady, who serve as writers and executive producers. The series is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.

Alongside the announcement, first-look images from the series were revealed, offering an early view of the main cast and setting.

The show expands on the existing universe established by The Big Bang Theory, focusing on a supporting character in a new narrative direction involving science fiction elements.

Further details about the series, including episode structure and additional casting, have not yet been disclosed.
