Two murder accused held after over a decade

KHANEWAL:

Police claimed to have arrested two long-absconding suspects wanted in separate murder cases, ending years of evasion.

According to officials, Abdul Hakeem police arrested a suspect, Majid Qureshi, who had been on the run for 14 years after allegedly committing a murder.

Acting on intelligence reports, a team led by SHO Rao Shahid traced and apprehended the accused from an area in Multan.

Separately, a team from Kahna police station, led by SHO Chaudhry Mehmood, arrested a fugitive, Rana Javed, from Jhelum district in what officials described as a dramatic operation.

Police said Rana Javed had been absconding for 16 years after allegedly killing a retired female teacher during a robbery attempt in Lakkar Mandi.

The suspect had reportedly been changing locations frequently to avoid arrest.

Both suspects had been declared proclaimed offenders and were wanted by police in connection with the cases.

The police said investigations into the were under way.
