Meryl Streep reveals what she told Anna Wintour before making 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'
Streep shared that when she prepared for the 2006 film, she intentionally avoided direct contact with Wintour

Meryl Streep is opening up about her real-life relationship with Anna Wintour and what she told the fashion icon ahead of The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Streep revealed that Wintour reached out to her when rumoUrs about the sequel began circulating. Reflecting on that moment, Streep said Wintour wanted reassurance about the project.
Wintour, who inspired Streep’s iconic character Miranda Priestly, “called Meryl to ask if it was true” and said she trusted the actress to be honest about the film.
After reading the script, Streep followed up, telling her: “Anna, I think it’s going to be all right.”
The actress admitted she didn’t reveal many details about the plot, but Wintour still placed her confidence in her, trusting her judgment on the sequel.
Streep also shared that when she originally prepared for the 2006 film, she intentionally avoided direct contact with Wintour, choosing instead to create her own interpretation of the powerful editor. Over time, however, their relationship has evolved, and the two have become more familiar with one another.
The upcoming sequel will see Streep reprise her role as Miranda Priestly, alongside returning cast members including Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci. The film is set to explore the changing landscape of the fashion industry and media world.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026, bringing one of fashion cinema’s most iconic characters back to the big screen.
