Model Jail case fixed for hearing
The IHC has fixed a hearing on a petition seeking the immediate activation of the Islamabad Model Jail. Justice Muhammad Azam Khan will hear the case on May 7.
The petition was scheduled after the registrar office approved a miscellaneous application for an early hearing.
Filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique on behalf of Judicial Activism, the petition requests the court to direct the federal government to immediately operationalise the jail and provide necessary funds. It also calls for strict action against those responsible for the unusual delay.
The petitioner has requested that all records and documents related to the project be presented in court under Article 19-A of the Constitution.
