GUJRANWALA:

Two three-year-old twin brothers tragically drowned in a stagnant water pond near their home in the Aroop area, police said on Sunday.

According to initial reports, the children, identified as Muhammad and Muhammad Mustafa—had gone out to play near their house but did not return.

Their mother began searching for them and was later informed that the children might have fallen into a nearby water-filled pit.

Rescue teams were alerted and, after a search operation, recovered the bodies of both children from the pond located close to their residence.

Police officials reached the scene and shifted the bodies to a hospital, where further legal formalities were initiated.

However, according to police, the family refused to allow post-mortem examinations. An investigation into the incident is underway.

SP Civil Lines also visited the site to oversee the inquiry.

Family members confirmed that the bodies were recovered from a nearby water-filled plot.

Meanwhile, Managing Director of WASA, Shabbir Hussain Butt, stated that the incident did not occur within WASA's jurisdiction, adding that there were no WASA pipelines in the area.

He said the site was part of a private housing plot that had filled with water, leading to the tragic accident.
