A popular name from Urdu pulp fiction is heading to the big screen as Inspector Jamshed is being turned into a feature film.

Authored by Ishtiaq Ahmed, the Inspector Jamshed series was a big part of many childhoods. The stories followed a crime-solving inspector who often worked with his three children, mixing mystery with a sense of family. Over the years, the books covered everything from small crimes to larger conspiracies, building a loyal fan base across generations.

Known as one of Pakistan’s A-list actors, Mir is no stranger to major projects. However, this role seems to mark a shift for the actor, bringing a stronger focus on action compared to the characters he is usually known for.

The lead role of Inspector Jamshed, meanwhile, is being played by Omair Rana, bringing another experienced name into the project.

Filming is reportedly taking place at Louvre Abu Dhabi and across the popular desert dunes that have previously hosted major international productions like Dune and Mission: Impossible. The scale of these locations hints at a visually ambitious project.

The film is also expected to reach a wide audience, with reports suggesting it could be released in multiple languages, expanding its global reach.
