Minor boy mauled by pet dog in Khanewal

A four-year-old boy was severely injured after being attacked by a pet dog while playing in a street in a suburban area of Khanewal, while alleged negligence at a public hospital further aggravated the situation, officials and residents said.

According to details, the incident occurred in Chak 109-10-R, where the child, identified as Zain, was playing outside his house when a pet dog owned by Naveed, son of Allah Wasaya, suddenly attacked him, leaving him badly mauled.

The injured child was rushed by his parents to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Jahanian, where, according to the family, they had to wait for nearly one and a half hours without receiving proper medical attention.

The parents alleged that despite their distress, the hospital's medical superintendent and staff failed to respond promptly.

Local residents shared the incident on social media, after which it quickly went viral, prompting the district administration to take notice.

The child was subsequently provided medical treatment, while police conducted raids and arrested the dog owner.
