The Balochistan Assembly on Friday unanimously passed a joint resolution applauding Pakistan's diplomatic efforts and mediation in securing a ceasefire between the United States and Iran amid the recent international conflict.
Provincial Minister for Home Affairs Mir Ziaullah Langau presented the resolution, jointly moved by himself along with Mir Shoaib Nosherwani, Ali Madad Jattak, Haji Noor Muhammad Dumar, Asghar Rind, Wali Muhammad Noorzai, Hadiya Nawaz, Khair Jan Baloch, Ashok Kumar, Farah Azeem Shah, and Shahida Rauf.
While tabling the motion, Langau said the House highly appreciates the diplomatic and leadership role played by Pakistan's government in the recent international dispute. The resolution expresses the Assembly's heartfelt delight over the welcome development of the ceasefire between the US and Iran. It pays rich tribute to Pakistan's timely, balanced, peaceful, and result-oriented efforts.
The resolution particularly commends Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their diplomatic foresight, exemplary leadership, and unmatched services rendered in the cause of global peace.
The House acknowledged that Pakistan, acting as a responsible and peace-loving nation, drew the attention of global leadership, successfully preventing a potential major dispute from escalating into a full-blown war crisis. This intervention has fostered an environment of peace and stability across the region and the wider world.
Speaking on the resolution's relevance, Mir Ziaullah Langau noted that the war in the region was affecting neighbouring countries.
Provincial Food Minister Noor Muhammad Dumar highlighted Pakistan's neutral and constructive role in the US-Iran conflict, saying the successful peace efforts by the country's military and political leadership are a matter of pride for the entire nation and the region.
Provincial Revenue Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gailo praised the Iranian people's stand against the US and Israel, criticising decades of US policies that he said have destabilised several countries, including Afghanistan, the Middle East, and Venezuela. He lauded the commendable role played by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and the political leadership for global peace.
Jamaat-e-Islami member Hidayatur Rehman Baloch called India, the US, and Israel "killers of humanity" but praised Pakistan's political and military leadership for their praiseworthy role.
PPP member Ali Madad Jattak described Pakistan's reconciliatory and diplomatic success in the US-Iran tensions as a bright chapter in history. He credited President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Asim Munir, noting that even Iranian people are chanting Pakistan Zindabad. He observed that all political parties, except one, have united for national interest.
National Party's Khair Jan Baloch termed the opportunity given to Pakistan for global peace and security an honour for the entire nation. He criticised certain negative forces, particularly Israeli and Indian leadership, for promoting bloodshed and instability, which threaten global security and humanity. He hoped the negotiations would move towards success.
