Wedding guest from Multan slips into deep water

A tragic incident occurred at Head Siphon where a young man, who had arrived in Mailsi with a wedding party, drowned in the river and went missing. Rescue teams have been carrying out a continuous search operation to locate him.
The victim, identified as Muhammad Mudassir, son of Muhammad Javed and a resident of Tariqabad, Multan, had come to Mailsi along with a friend's wedding procession. During a recreational visit to Head Siphon, he was taking a selfie near the riverbank when he suddenly slipped, lost control, and fell into deep water, disappearing from sight.
Upon receiving information, Rescue 1122 and other relevant agencies rushed to the scene and launched a search operation. However, despite several hours of efforts, the body had not been recovered till the filing of this report, while rescue activities continued.
Assistant Commissioner Mailsi Saad bin Khalid and SHO Saddar Police Station were also present at the site, personally supervising the operation.
Speaking on the occasion, the Assistant Commissioner urged citizens to avoid unnecessary movement near rivers and canals, particularly dangerous activities such as taking selfies. He emphasized the need to ensure personal safety and protect others to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
