LHC rejects plea against Shehbaz acquittal

.

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court has issued a detailed verdict on the petition challenging the acquittal of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others.

The court said it had maintained the Registrar Office's objection regarding the petition and had ordered it dismissed.

Chief Justice Aalia Neelum issued the written verdict on the petition filed by Vishal Shakir, who had challenged Shehbaz's acquittal in the FIA money laundering case. It said the petitioner was a private individual and not a party to the case. The authority to challenge the acquittal, it said, lay with the federal government or the public prosecutor, as provided by law.
