Lawyers protest fuel price hike, judicial reforms
Lawyers on Monday staged a partial boycott of courts to protest the recent increase in petroleum prices and the implementation of a biometric system for case filing.
The strike, called by the Lahore High Court Bar Association and the Lahore Bar Association, led to disruptions in proceedings across subordinate courts in the city.
Lawyers refrained from appearing in courts, citing the added financial burden from rising fuel costs, which they said affects not only their work but also access to justice for the public.
The bar associations demanded the government immediately roll back the petrol price increase.
