RAWALPINDI:

The Christian community in the twin cities celebrated the religious festival of Easter on Sunday with great enthusiasm, devotion, and respect.

Special prayers were held in churches of all sizes across the twin cities, where pastors highlighted the significance and importance of Easter, stating that it teaches peace, brotherhood, and helping one another. They also prayed for an immediate end to the Iran-US conflict.

Churches were beautifully decorated with colorful flags, lights, and fresh paint. Christian families, including children, dressed up and attended services held from 9am to 11am.

After the prayers, special supplications were offered for Pakistan's progress, prosperity, and global peace. Police and administration ensured strict security arrangements, with monitoring carried out through CCTV cameras.

Festive celebrations continued throughout the day in Christian colonies, with children enjoying the occasion. In the afternoon, many families visited recreational spots including Ayub Park, Joyland, Children Park, Allama Iqbal Park, Rawal Park, Romi Park, 502 Workshop Park, Shakarparian, Daman-e-Koh, and Lake View.

However, heavy rain in the evening across various areas brought the park activities to a halt. The federal and Punjab governments also announced a public holiday for Christian employees on Monday, April 6, in connection with Easter.
