KHANEWAL:

Two constables of the Crime Control Department (CCD) were arrested for allegedly stealing valuables and misusing ATM cards during a raid in Mian Channu tehsil on Saturday.

Official sources said, residents Jameel and Mansha Ood filed a complaint with senior CCD authorities, alleging that a team of CCD personnel, including constables Umar Sargana and Muhammad Haneef, conducted a raid at their homes.

During the operation, the officials allegedly stole valuables worth approximately Rs1.9 million.

The complainants further alleged that the personnel subjected them to physical assault and forcibly took their ATM cards, extracting their PIN codes through coercion.

Following the complaint, District Officer (DO) Ishaq Sial initiated an inquiry.

The investigation revealed that the stolen ATM cards were used at two pharmacies in Khanewal, Paradise Pharmacy and Talha Pharmacy, for purchases.

Additionally, attempts were made to book two Honda 125 motorcycles using the same cards. However, the transactions failed after the victims had their cards blocked. After the allegations were substantiated, DO Ishaq Sial ordered the arrest of the two constables, Umar Sargana and Muhammad Haneef.

A case has been registered against them under sections 155-C and 380 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
