Married man opens fire after marriage refusal, later attempts suicide

HARIPUR:

A lady doctor was shot dead by a married man after she refused his marriage proposal on the Hazara Motorway, police said.

According to police sources, the suspect, identified as Shehzad, opened fire inside a car, killing the woman. He later attempted suicide by shooting himself and was shifted to hospital in critical condition.

The deceased was identified as 25-year-old Anila, a resident of Abbottabad. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Kot Najibullah police station, which reached the scene promptly.

Police said that after killing the woman, the suspect, a resident of Mansehra, shot himself in the throat. He was ireferred to Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad.

At the time of the incident, the victim's mother was also present in the car but remained unharmed.

According to police, the incident occurred while they were returning from Islamabad to Abbottabad.

Police said the suspect used a car (registration number BRU-459) to carry out the attack. He was identified as Shehzad Ahmed, son of Mian Dad, a resident of Moharian Darmiana, Mansehra, and reportedly owner of King Fish Mandian.
