NCT member Mark announces exit from group and SM Entertainment after 10 years
Mark will depart from NCT and SM Entertainment after a decade, the agency confirmed, bringing an end to his activities with all units of the group.
In a statement released on April 3, SM Entertainment said the decision followed mutual agreement after extensive discussions. Mark’s exclusive contract will conclude next Wednesday, and he will no longer participate in NCT 127, NCT Dream or any related projects.
The agency did not provide a specific reason for the departure but expressed appreciation for their long-standing partnership, describing it as “10 years of meaningful work together” and stating support for his future endeavours.
Mark also addressed fans in a handwritten letter shared on Instagram, reflecting on his career since debuting with NCT U in April 2016. “It has been 10 years since I debuted as NCT U on April 9, 2016, and there has been a lot that has happened,” he wrote.
Looking ahead, Mark said, “After 10 years, I want to dive into a more concrete version of myself. All NCT members encouraged me and gave me wisdom on this new dive I want to take. I will always root for and love NCT.”
Following his departure, NCT 127 will continue as a seven-member group, while NCT Dream will promote as six members. SM Entertainment confirmed it will continue supporting the remaining artists and thanked fans for their ongoing support.
