NEPRA fines CPPA, NGC Rs60m

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has imposed fines totaling Rs60 million on the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) and the National Grid Company (NGC) over the heavy fuel price adjustment (FPA) in January 2024.

In its decision, Nepra stated that the average fuel cost in January 2024 was Rs14.60 per unit, while the target estimate for fuel cost had been set at Rs7.49 per unit.

Under the FPA, an increase of Rs7.13 per unit was requested. As a result, electricity was made Rs7.05 per unit more expensive under the January 2024 FPA.
