Suspected acid attacker killed

A ninth-grade schoolgirl was severely injured in an acid attack in the Chung area while returning home from an academy.

She suffered severe burns to her face, head, and shoulders and was hospitalised.

Police officials believe the attack may be linked to a rejected marriage proposal.

A case was registered at Chung police station on the complaint of the girl's father.

During the pursuit of two suspected assailants in Green Town, the suspects fired at the police. Officers returned fire, injuring one of them, Sajid, who later died en route to hospital, while his accomplice escaped.

A separate FIR was filed for attempted murder and attack on police. Investigations were continuing to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
