ISLAMABAD:

The National Wheat Oversight Committee convened on Wednesday to evaluate wheat procurement arrangements, inter-provincial coordination, and strategies to bolster national food security in a volatile global environment.

The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, said a press release issued by the Food Security Ministry.

The meeting reviewed ongoing wheat procurement operations across provinces, focusing on the readiness of procurement systems, smooth market operations during the harvest season, and effective facilitation for farmers at the grassroots level.

Provincial representatives briefed the committee on their procurement preparations and ongoing initiatives to support farmers. Hussain praised their collaborative approach and reaffirmed the federal government's commitment to provide technical and policy support for stable wheat procurement operations.
