Call for safeguards against online child abuse

Recognising the rising digital risks faced by children, an information technology expert has underscored the urgent need for a well-structured online safety framework integrating educational curricula, parental control systems, digital literacy programs for parents, and community-driven awareness initiatives to combat cyberbullying and online exploitation.

In an exclusive talk with a private news channel, IT expert Syed Abdul Qadir highlighted the growing dangers of cyberbullying, online exploitation, and digital abuse, emphasising that a comprehensive framework is essential to safeguard young internet users.

Abdul Qadir stressed that parents must not only monitor their children's online activities regularly but also develop their own digital literacy to understand the platforms, risks, and safety tools their children engage with.

He further noted that awareness campaigns and curriculum-based online safety education should be prioritised to help children build digital resilience and responsible internet habits from an early age.

The expert called for collaboration among parents, educators, and policymakers to promote safer online spaces and ensure that technology remains a tool for learning and growth rather than harm.
