OGRA notifies Rs78.28/kg hike in LPG rate from April 1

Authority attributes the rise in LPG prices to global factors, including 44% increase in Saudi Aramco contract price

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) on Tuesday notified the maximum prices of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for the month of April 2026, marking an increase of Rs78.28 per kilogramme, or 34.66%, compared to the previous month.

According to the OGRA notification, the new consumer price was set at Rs304,117 per tonne, reflecting an increase of Rs78,280 per tonne from March's price of Rs225,836.

For the 11.8 kg cylinder, the price stood at Rs3,588, up by Rs923.71 from Rs2,664.88 in March. It reflected a 34.66% rise in the consumer price, with a per kg increase of Rs78.28.

The new producer price for LPG stood at Rs262,817 per tonne, which translated to Rs3,101 per 11.8 kg cylinder.

It reflected an increase of Rs78,280.54 per tonne or Rs923.71 per cylinder from March 2026, when the producer price was Rs184,536.99 per tonne and Rs2,177.54 per cylinder.

OGRA attributed the rise in LPG prices to global factors, including a 44% increase in the Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP) and a slight decrease of 0.11% in the average exchange rate of the US dollar.

This price hike is expected to have a significant impact on households and businesses that rely on LPG for cooking and heating, as the commodity is largely affected by international market conditions, particularly the Saudi Aramco-CP and the US dollar exchange rate fluctuations.
