Nine terrorists killed in Khyber

KHYBER:

Security forces carried out a swift operation in the Akakhel area of Khyber district, killing nine terrorists and foiling their attempt to seize control of Government High School Khwaja Mirkale Akakhel, security sources said on Monday.

They said that the terrorists had entered the school premises, seized control of the building, hoisted the flag of their organisation, and circulated a video of the act on social media, prompting a swift action from the security forces.

The forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, aiming to neutralise the threat and regain control of the occupied premises. The sources said an exchange of fire took place during the operation, resulting in the killing of all nine terrorists.

Officials stated that forces remained on high alert to maintain peace and order in the area, keeping in view any possible threat, and added that further investigation into the incident had been initiated.

Separately, an alleged drone attack was reported on a house in Bara Akakhel. A young man lost his life in the attack, while another one was reportedly injured. Local sources said the situation had triggered panic across the area, prompting several residents to leave their homes.
