Karachi reports first mpox case of the year

The first case of mpox this year has been reported in Karachi, according to hospital sources.

A 31-year-old man had travelled abroad in January for a hair transplant procedure. Upon his return, he was screened at Karachi airport, where symptoms raised suspicion of infection. He was immediately shifted to the Sindh Infectious Diseases Hospital for further evaluation.

At the hospital, the patient was admitted and underwent medical examination and testing. Medical Superintendent Dr Waheed Rajput confirmed that the patient tested positive for mpox. However, after showing improvement, he was discharged within two days.
