Palm Sunday marked with prayers for country
The Christian community observed Palm Sunday with religious devotion and enthusiasm. Special prayer services were held in churches across the country, with large numbers of people in attendance.
Prayers were offered for national security, peace, interfaith harmony, and global stability.
Following the tradition, members of the Christian community carried palm branches in processions.
In Lahore, prayer ceremonies were held at Cathedral Church on Mall Road, Sacred Heart Cathedral, Naulakha Church and St. Anthony's Church as well as other churches across the city. Men, women, and children participated in large numbers, singing hymns and offering prayers while carrying palm branches. Strict security arrangements were in place along procession routes.
Law enforcement personnel were deployed, and entry and exit points were monitored to prevent any untoward incident.
Bishop of Lahore Nadeem Kamran said that Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week, which holds great significance in the Christian faith. Various religious rituals are observed during this week.
The Christian community will observe Good Friday later this week, followed by Easter on Sunday.
