Renowned Pakistani writer Mazhar Jameel remembered
Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi holds condolence reference that pays rich tribute to his work

Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi organized a condolence reference in memory of renowned Pakistani writer Syed Mazhar Jameel at Haseena Moin Hall. The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran.
A large number of social and literary personalities from different walks of life attended the condolence reference, including President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah, renowned poet Iftikhar Arif, Justice (R) Maqbool Baqar and others. Friends and associates of Syed Mazhar Jameel shared various memories of their relationship with him.
On this occasion, former Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that his relationship with Mazhar Jameel was that of a judge and a lawyer. He described him as a hardworking, compassionate and capable person, adding that he was prominent in his professional abilities as a lawyer. He also shared that in 2010, Mazhar Jameel had presented him with his Sindhi book, which reflected his scholarly taste. President Arts Council Muhammad Ahmed Shah said that Mazhar Jameel had a long and strong association with the institution. He said that from the very first Aalmi Urdu Conference, he remained associated with the Arts Council along with other scholars and played an important role in elevating its intellectual and literary standards. He added that Mazhar Jameel's personality was marked by patience and positivity, and he always had the ability to resolve issues in a pleasant manner. Renowned poet Iftikhar Arif, in his address, said that Mazhar Jameel carried out unparalleled and meaningful work in his era. He said that the driving force behind his scholarly and literary work was the Progressive Movement, which gave strength to his efforts. According to Iftikhar Arif, Mazhar Jameel proved his excellence in both Sindhi and Urdu languages, and his writings are his true legacy. Writer and intellectual Professor Sahar Ansari said that he first met Mazhar Jameel in 1959. He stated that later he moved from Karachi to Sukkur, where he further promoted literary activities. He said that Mazhar Jameel was a disciplined and hardworking individual who rendered valuable services in the field of knowledge and literature. Renowned scholar Jaffer Ahmed said that Mazhar Jameel also wrote important books on Sindh, reflecting his scholarly interest and connection with regional history and culture. He added that Mazhar Jameel was a great scholar, and his academic and research stature is clearly evident in his works. Renowned intellectual Naazir Mahmood said that Mazhar Jameel's life was a practical example of how a person can dedicate his entire life to knowledge, study and research. He never chose the easy path but continued the process of hard work, reading and learning. Fatima Hasan said that Mazhar Jameel advanced his scholarly journey with great hard work, honesty and intellectual depth. He not only understood complex subjects but also documented them with research. Mubeen Mirza said that today Syed Mazhar Jameel is being remembered as an effective, thoughtful and dignified personality. Ibad-ul-Haq Mazhar Jameel said that his father raised them with great love and affection, and whatever knowledge they possess today is because of him. Samad-ul-Haq Mazhar Jameel said that he is grateful to everyone who attended the event. He said his father always guided them, supported them in difficulties, and used to advise that whether or not one participates in happiness, one must stand with others in times of grief. Dr. Sahar Imdad Hussaini said that Syed Mazhar Jameel was a serious-minded, knowledge-loving and highly educated person, whose company was full of intellect and wisdom. His writings reflect deep love for Sindh, its culture and language.Zia Awan said that Mazhar Jameel was a strong supporter of ideological struggle and public awareness. He said that connection with language, culture and people is the true identity of an intellectual, and Mazhar Jameel built bridges between different languages and cultures through poetry. Mehnaz Rahman said that Syed Mazhar Jameel was one of those prominent examples. He was not only a great writer and intellectual but also an ideal husband and a wonderful human being.
