A social media controversy has prompted Rozonda Thomas, known as Chilli of TLC, to issue a public clarification after she mistakenly shared a conspiracy-related post about Michelle Obama.

The incident gained attention after reports claimed Chilli had reposted negative content about the former First Lady and made financial contributions linked to political groups associated with Donald Trump and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

The claims circulated widely online, prompting debate over her political stance.

Addressing the situation in a video, Chilli said she felt compelled to respond as the discussion intensified. “I wanted to come on here to address a few things circulating on the internet that are very concerning to me,” she said.

She stressed that she holds Michelle Obama in high regard, stating she has the “utmost respect and admiration” for her and would never act in a way that is “disrespectful to her or to any woman.” Chilli explained that the repost was unintentional and that she was unaware the content had appeared on her account until she began receiving calls alerting her to it. She said she removed the post immediately after confirming it had been shared.

“I would never do anything that is harmful or hateful to anybody,” she added, while also emphasising her long-standing appreciation for both Michelle Obama and former President Barack Obama.

Chilli also addressed questions regarding reported donations, stating that her contributions were not politically motivated but instead focused on causes she supports. “I am not MAGA and do not support any of the many policies that are causing great harm to the American people. I made a mistake too many make: I did not read the fine print. I thought I was supporting causes against human trafficking and for veterans.”

The episode highlights the growing scrutiny faced by public figures navigating social media, where actions can quickly lead to widespread interpretation and reaction.
