ISLAMABAD:

A process of organisational restructuring is underway at the National Grid Company (NGC) to meet the evolving needs of the power sector, with a new reform-based operating model set to be implemented from July 1.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Energy, Minister for Energy Awais Leghari reaffirmed full support for the reform process.

A spokesperson for the Power Division said the new model includes key measures aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency and accountability in the power sector. The updated operating framework of the NGC is expected to significantly improve grid performance.

A comprehensive strategy has been devised to address structural shortcomings in the National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC), the spokesperson added.

Under the organisational reforms, six key pillars have been introduced within the NGC, while digital systems will enable real-time data monitoring and smart grid management.

The spokesperson said special emphasis would be placed on strengthening financial discipline and improving transparency.
