Two held as poppy husk smuggling bid foiled

CHINIOT:

Police claimed to have foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 34 maunds of poppy husk and arrested two suspected traffickers during a raid in Chak 149-JB.

According to police, the operation was carried out by Kot Wasawa Police on a tip-off. The narcotics were recovered during the raid and both suspects were taken into custody.

District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Naveed Atif had directed the action as part of an ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking. DSP City Muhammad Shoaib Khan confirmed that a case has been registered under the Narcotics Act and further investigation is under way.

Police officials said efforts are being made to ensure strict legal action against those involved. The operation is part of a wider campaign across the district aimed at curbing drug-related activities. Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate by reporting suspicious activities through the police helpline to help eliminate the drug menace from the area
