Schools to shift to domestic electricity tarrifs

RAWALPINDI:

In a major decision prompted by soaring electricity costs and an increasing burden of taxes on power bills, the Punjab Education Department has decided to convert the electricity meters of all public schools across the province from commercial to domestic tariff.

According to the department, electricity bills for government schools, colleges and universities—currently charged under commercial tariffs—have collectively exceeded billions of rupees, making payments increasingly difficult, if not impossible.
