Balochistan seeks delay in NA-256 by-poll
The Balochistan government has formally requested the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to postpone the by-election in NA-256 Khuzdar, citing a deteriorating security situation and heightened risks to voters and polling staff.
In a letter sent by the provincial Home Department, authorities urged the ECP to defer the by-poll scheduled for April 5, warning that prevailing law and order conditions in Khuzdar and surrounding areas have become "highly alarming".
The request follows detailed assessments by the district administration, law enforcement agencies and intelligence bodies, all of which flagged serious security concerns.
