Four stroke patients saved in Eid holidays

Four citizens, including a woman, who suffered severe stroke attacks in Lahore during the Eid holidays were treated at the Services Hospital Stroke Management Centre.

After the administration of a life-saving injection, all four patients recovered from the severe effects of stroke within hours, avoiding permanent disability.

According to a statement, the patients - 75-year-old Muhammad Akhtar, 70-year-old Talat Mahmood, 63-year-old Shareefa Bibi, and 50-year-old Amanat Ali - received immediate emergency care upon arrival under the Stroke Management Programme.

Neurology Department Head Dr Muhammad Adnan Aslam said symptoms of stroke include blurred vision, facial distortion, speech difficulty, imbalance, and weakness in limbs, and patients must be taken to the nearest stroke centre within the critical initial four hours.

The specialised healthcare department is providing the costly injections free of charge. Currently, 14 stroke management centres are operational across Punjab, with plans under way to establish such facilities in every district.
