Three suspects held during raid clash

LAHORE:

Police arrested three suspects, including a drug peddler, after a patrol team came under attack during a raid in the Liaquatabad area.

According to a police spokesperson, the Liaquatabad patrolling team received a tip-off regarding the presence of a suspected drug dealer.

Acting on the information, the team conducted a raid near Naiyanwala Chowk and apprehended the suspect, Hafeezur Rehman, seizing narcotics from his possession.

However, a group of about 20 unidentified people allegedly attacked the police in an attempt to free the suspect. As a result of the assault, Constable Tayyab was injured.

He was shifted to a hospital. The police said reinforcements were called, after which the situation was brought under control.
