After a five-day holiday period, the High Courts, as well as session, civil, family, magistrate and special courts, reopened on Tuesday, restoring activity to the Rawalpindi Bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) and district and tehsil courts, which had remained subdued.
On Tuesday, accused persons were once again brought from Adiala Jail to appear before the courts, which resumed regular hearings. Litigants and defendants attended proceedings as per routine.
Court canteens, which had remained closed for a month during Ramadan, have also reopened, reviving associated business and employment.
Similarly, all public and private offices across the city have resumed operations. On the first day back, officials and employees exchanged Eid greetings, with normal administrative work gradually recommencing and office environments returning to full activity.
During the first day of proceedings, the session, civil, family, magistrate and special courts issued a range of orders in various cases. A total of 29 accused persons were remanded into police custody, while 22 were sent to jail on judicial remand.
Bail was granted to 18 individuals, whereas bail applications of six accused were rejected. Two accused were convicted, six were acquitted, and arrest warrants were issued for 12 individuals, with four declared POs.
