RAWALPINDI:

Three employees of Adiala Jail, including an assistant superintendent, have been suspended over charges of negligence and corruption. The action was taken after cash was recovered from them during a visit by Monitoring Home Department DG Athar Saeed.

According to jail sources, Assistant Superintendent Imran Shehzad was suspended for failing to prevent illegal activities by subordinates.

The suspended officials include Imran Shehzad (in-charge waiting shed), warder Sohail Ahmed (in-charge search), and warder Shafqat Naveed (in-charge supplies).

During the visit, Rs18,220 was recovered from Sohail Ahmed's socks, allegedly obtained from visitors in exchange for facilitating delivery of goods inside the jail.
