Xavier Smalls is facing backlash after comments about sin and the LGBTQ+ community sparked debate online

Xavier Smalls is drawing attention online after a video of his remarks about religion, sin, and judgment began circulating on social media.
In the clip, the Beauty in Black actor speaks about his beliefs regarding God’s love and moral accountability, saying that while God loves all people, that love does not exempt individuals from consequences.
“God does love you… whether you’re an atheist… whether you live in sin… he still loves you,” Smalls said. However, he added that people could still face judgment, emphasizing that, in his view, there are only two outcomes after death.

"Not because he [God] doesn't love you, but he's so holy he can't dwell with unholy people. And that
goes for other sinners...not just the LGBT..." pic.twitter.com/QYMW2XyRXf
He went on to explain that God’s holiness, as he described it, means that those who continue in sin cannot be in heaven. Smalls also clarified that his comments were not directed at a single group, stating that various actions, ranging from dishonesty to substance abuse, fall under what he considers sinful behavior.
The video has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some supporting his perspective as a reflection of personal faith, while others have criticized the remarks as controversial and divisive.
As the clip continues to circulate, Smalls’ comments have become part of a broader conversation about religion, interpretation, and public discourse in the digital age.
