LAHORE:

The Punjab government has deployed anti-drone technology to strengthen airspace security and enhance the operational civil defence capacity.

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Home Department, the province has procured modern guns capable of neutralising hostile unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) mid-air.

The EMG-150 system can disable drones within a range of two to three kilometres by jamming their communication signals, forcing them to either land or crash.

Officials said the lightweight device weighing around six kilogrammes is equipped with a high-gain directional antenna to ensure accurate targeting over long distances.

The anti-drone gun operates across eight frequency bands and is capable of disrupting major satellite navigation systems. It also features a powerful jamming system with an output of up to 200 watts, enabling effective interference with drone control signals.

Authorities said the equipment can function in extreme weather conditions, ranging from minus 22 to 65 degrees Celsius, making it suitable for varied operational environments.
