Scooby-Doo live action Netflix series casts Fred, Velma and Shaggy roles
Netflix casts Fred Velma and Shaggy for Scooby-Doo live action series alongside Daphne

Netflix has confirmed key casting for its upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo adaptation, with Maxwell Jenkins, Abby Ryder Fortson and Tanner Hagen joining the project as Fred Jones, Velma Dinkley and Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, respectively.
The trio will appear alongside Mckenna Grace, who was previously announced as Daphne. The series, ordered for eight episodes in March 2025, is described as a modern reimagining of the long-running animated franchise.
According to the official logline, the story follows Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp as they investigate a mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy believed to have witnessed a supernatural murder. They are joined by Velma, described as pragmatic and scientific, and Freddy, a new arrival, as the group attempts to solve a case that draws them into a wider mystery.
The casting marks a return to Netflix for Jenkins, who previously appeared in Lost in Space and Sense8. Hagen’s credits include roles in The Pitt and Lawmen: Bass Reeves, while Fortson has appeared in The Pitt and films such as Ant-Man.
The series is being developed by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who will serve as showrunners and executive producers.
Additional executive producers include Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Leigh London Redman, with Toby Haynes directing the first episode. Warner Bros. Television produces the series.
The Scooby-Doo franchise has previously seen multiple live-action adaptations, including the 2002 film and its sequel, alongside decades of animated series and films.
