John Krasinski is set to reprise his role as Jack Ryan in a new sequel film, marking a continuation of the franchise following the conclusion of the Prime Video series in 2023.

The upcoming film, titled “Jack Ryan: Ghost War”, brings back the CIA analyst turned deputy director in what will be the sixth instalment based on the character created by author Tom Clancy. The project follows the end of the streaming series, which ran for four seasons and expanded the character’s presence on television.

Several cast members from the series are returning, including Wendell Pierce as James Greer, Michael Kelly as Mike November and Betty Gabriel as Elizabeth Wright. The film also features new additions to the cast, including Sienna Miller, Mckenna Bridger, Max Beesley, Douglas Hodge and JJ Feild.

The Jack Ryan character has been portrayed by multiple actors over the decades, beginning with Alec Baldwin in The Hunt for Red October. Harrison Ford later took on the role in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, followed by Ben Affleck in The Sum of All Fears and Chris Pine in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Krasinski first introduced the character to streaming audiences in 2019.

Ghost War is directed by Andrew Bernstein, whose previous work includes episodes of House, Mad Men, The Americans and Ozark. The screenplay is written by Aaron Rabin and Krasinski, based on a story developed by Krasinski and Noah Oppenheim.

The film is produced by Paramount Pictures, Skydance Media, Genre Arts, Push Boot and Sunday Night Productions, with distribution handled by Amazon MGM Studios.

Jack Ryan: Ghost War is scheduled for release on Prime Video on May 20.
