Domestic worker held for killing toddler
Police have arrested a domestic worker accused of suffocating a two-year-old child in the Harbancepura area, while in a separate incident, authorities have launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a 10-month-old infant in Barki.
According to the police, the domestic worker, Aneela, was taken into custody after officers responded to an emergency call. Investigators allege that she had placed a pillow over the face of the toddler, Zaid, resulting in his death. Officials stated that the incident reportedly occurred after the accused was reprimanded by her employer.
A case was registered on the complaint of the child's father, Muhammad Umar, and the suspect has been handed over to the investigation wing for interrogation.
In a separate case, tensions have escalated within a family following the death of 10-month-old Hussain, in the Barki area under unclear circumstances.
Police said the child had been placed in the care of a relative due to family arrangements. However, disputes had reportedly persisted between the mother and in-laws. The mother, Samra, allegedly returned to her parents' home following a disagreement days before the incident.
The infant later fell ill and was taken to a hospital, where he died. Subsequently, the adoptive father, Moazzam, accused the child's biological mother of causing harm, while sources indicated that counter-allegations also emerged from the maternal side.
The police initiated an investigation, stating that the cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem report.
Officials added that all aspects of both incidents are being thoroughly examined.
