A newlywed woman committed suicide in her residence in Azizabad area. Husband of the deceased also stated that his wife ended her life by hanging in the bathroom. However, the police have termed the incident suspicious and launched an investigation.
The incident occurred in Azizabad Block 2 near Safa Mosque. The police shifted the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for post-mortem examination, where she was identified as 23-year-old Ayesha, wife of Muheet.
Initial investigations revealed that Ayesha had married Muheet about four and a half months ago. Prior to that, she had been married to Muheet's elder brother, but after her husband's death she married his younger brother. Police said the husband told investigators that his wife went to the bathroom, locked the door from, climbed onto a plastic chair, and hanged herself with a dupatta.
However, police found the circumstances suspicious, saying, when the police team reached the house to inspect the scene, the crime scene had already been cleaned. The chair was missing from the bathroom and the dupatta used in the alleged hanging had been discarded, although it was later recovered by police.
Police said the case appears suspicious and a post-mortem examination is being conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
